THE MARTIN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PIONEER MUSEUM WILL PLAY HOST TO PETE GORTON IN A COUPLE OF PRESENTATIONS ON MONDAY PERTAINING TO THE LIFE OF JOHN WESLEY DONALDSON A BARNSTORMING BASEBALL PLAYER WHOSE CAREER SPANNED FROM 1908-1941 WHO PLAYED FOR AT LEAST 25 TEAMS INCLUDING JOHN DONALDSON'S ALL STARS WHO APPEARED IN MARTIN COUNTY IN 1932.

PETE GORTON IS A COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT FROM MINNNEAPOLIS AND FOUNDER OF THE DONALDSON NETWORK LOOKING TO RESTORE THE LOST LEGACY OF JOHN DONALDSON,WHO PLAYED IN 550 DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY INCLUDING OVER 130 IN MINNESOTA AND AT HAND'S PARK JUST SOUTH OF FAIRMONT AFTER HIS CAREER AS ONE OF THE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE KANSAS CITY MONARCHS IN THE NEGRO LEAGUES.

PETE GORTON TALKED ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUING THE LEGACY OF JOHN WESLEY DONALDSON WHO WAS KNOWN IN HIS DAY TO BE THE HIGHEST PAID BLACK PITCHER IN BASEBALL DURING HIS TIME AND HE PLAYED RIGHT HERE IN MARTIN COUNTY AND THE PITCHER WITH THE MOST VICTORIES OF ANY SEGREGATED PITCHER IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL.

PETE GORTON MAKES HIS PRESENTATION AT THE PIONEER MUSEUM IN FAIRMONT MONDAY APRIL 10 AT 2 PM AND 7 PM. THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO ATTEND AND THERE IS NO CHARGE.
