THE FILING PERIOD IS STILL OPEN AND ALREADY A PRIMARY ELECTION IS ASSURED IN ONE OF THE RACES FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER IN MARTIN COUNTY. THE FIFTH DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS SEAT HAS DRAWN SOME INTEREST SINCE THE INCUMBENT JACK POTTER ANNOUNCED HE WOULD NOT BE RUNNING FOR ANOTHER TERM.

ROCHELLE KRUSEMARK HAS JOINED THE FIELD OF CANDIDATES WHICH PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED STEVEN FLOHRS AND KEITH HARTMANN. THE FIRST DISTRICT IS BEING CONTESTED AS WELL BUT SO FAR THERE ARE JUST TWO CANDIDATES SO IT WILL NOT AS OF YET REQUIRE A PRIMARY VOTE. ELLIOT BELGARD WHO CURRENTLY HOLDS THAT SEAT IS BEING CHALLENGED AGAIN BY BOB TOLAND. THOSE TWO FACED EACH OTHER IN A SPECIAL ELECTION LAST FEBRUARY. STEVE DONNELLY THE INCUMBENT SO FAR IS UNOPPOSED FOR THE DISTRICT 3 COMMISSIONER SEAT.

FILINGS WILL CLOSE AT 5 PM NEXT TUESDAY JUNE 5. THE PRIMARY ELECTION IS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 14 THIS YEAR, WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION SET FOR NOVEMBER 6.
