|Seniors in Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa are invited to join us at 7PM, Tuesday, November 20, at the Red Rock Center in Fairmont, MN, for the showing of the award winning documentary film, Age Of Champions. This inspirational film takes a look at the lives of senior citizens, male and female, who are committed to a healthy lifestyle which includes physical activity and good eating habits. The senior athletes in this film, all over the age of 60, compete at National Senior Games, which is open to anyone 50 years of age and over, in track & field, tennis, swimming and/or basketball with a goal to have fun, keep physically and mentally fit while developing healthy social relationships through competition. |
The Washington Post called the film "infectiously inspiring" and its characters have been featured in major media outlets including ABC, CBS, PBS, and NPR. More than 700 senior, health and fitness organization around the country are hosting the screening of Age of Champions.
Following the film a few senior athletes from the Fairmont area will lead a discussion on reaction to the film and will provide information on how seniors can pursue a healthier lifestyle. Among those in attendance will be Sherwood Sagedahl of Fairmont, age 73, who in August 2012 set the World and American Record in the Outdoor Pentathlon (males 70-74) at a National Masters USA T&F meet.
