THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL APPROVED COST ASSESSMENTS FOR THE 2012 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. THE TOTAL COST FOR THIS YEARS PROJECTS IS ESTIMATED AT 283,463 DOLLARS FOR THE OVERLAY OF WOODLAND AVENUE FROM LAKE PARK BOULEVARD TO FAIRLAKES AVENUE AND SEALCOATS ON PARTS OR ALL OF 10 STREETS IN THE CITY. THE COST OF THE ASSESSMENTS AGAINST BENEFITTING PROPERTY OWNERS WILL BE 30 DOLLARS FOR ASSESSABLE FOOT FOR OVERLAY PROJECTS AND 2 DOLLARS PER ASSESSABLE FOOT FOR SEALCOAT PROJECTS. THE 2012 IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ASSESSMENTS WILL BE OCT. 22 AT 5:30 PM IN THE FAIRMONT CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.

A PUBLIC HEARING WAS SET ON GRANT PROGRESS FOR THE 2011 SMALL CITIES DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FUNDS FOR THE CITY'S ONGOING HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM FOR OCT. 8 AT 5:30 PM. THE HEARING IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE PROGRESS AS WELL AS TAKE PUBLIC INPUT ON THE PROGRAM.

THE COUNCIL HEARD A PRESENTATION ON THE END OF THE SEASON FROM THE FAIRMONT AQUATIC PARK. REVENUE AT THE PARK THIS YEAR WAS 144,111 DOLLARS COMPARED TO 130,000 A YEAR AGO. EXPENSES FOR THIS YEAR WERE 311,000 DOLLARS COMPARED TO 312,000 A YEAR AGO. THIS PAST SEASON THE AQUATIC PARK HOSTED GROUPS FROM BLUE EARTH,LAKE CRYSTAL, WELLS, JACKSON,ST.PETER,ADRIAN,ALBERT LEA AND MANKATO IN MINNESOTA PLUS FORESTCITY,SPIRIT LAKE AND ESTHERVILLE ,IOWA. MANY OF THSE GROUPS VIST THE FACILITY ANNUALLY. AFTER THE REPORT WAS GIVEN IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT A COMMITTEE OF PARENTS AND OTHER PARTICIPANTS BE FORMED TO DISCUSS AND WOTK ON FUTURE NEEDS AND IMPROVEMENTS AT THE FAIRMONT AQUATIC PARK
