FAIRMONT FIRE FIGHTERS WERE DISPATCHED TUESDAY TO A HOG CONFINEMENT BARN ON FIRE ABOUT FOUR MILES WEST OF NORTHROP AROUND 4 PM IN THE AFTERNOON. NO FIRE WAS VISIBLE ON ARRIVAL BUT SMOKE WAS SCENE COMING FROM THE UPPER LEVEL. FAIRMONT FIRE CHIEF BRANDON SCOTT SAID A FAULTY HEAT LAMP WAS SUSPECTED OF CAUSING THE FIRE. HE SAID THAT SMOKE FILLED ABOUT HALF THE BUILDING BUT SAID WHILE THEY WERE THERE NO CASUALTIES WERE REPORTED TO THE PIG POPULATION.THE BARN WAS REPORTEDLY THREE QUARTERS FULL OF BABY PIGS .FIREFIGHTERS WERE ABLE TO CONTAIN THE FIRE TO ONE BUILDING.

CHIEF SCOTT SAID THE DAMAGE ESTIMATE WAS ABOUT 10,000 DOLLARS TO THE STRUCTURE.

FAIRMONT FIREFIGHTERS WERE DISPATCHED TO THE ST. JOHN VIANNEY LOCATION ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON JUST AFTER 3 PM AFTER A BOILER MALFUNCTIONED. FIRE CHIEF BRANDON SCOTT SAID THE MISHAP CAUSED CARBON MONOXIDE TO BUILDUP IN THE BUILDING DUE TO THE EXHAUST FROM THE BOILER. FIREFIGHTERS WERE ON THE SCENE FOR ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR TO VENTILATE AND REMOVE THE EXHAUST FROM THE STRUCTURE.
