I would like to extend a special thank you to the Fairmont community for its support of the blood drive held last week at the Holiday Inn. Thanks to all donors who braved the cold weather to come out and donate blood.

?American Red Cross collects nearly 14,000 blood donations each day to help ensure patients get the treatment they need.

Results of the Fairmont blood drive last week are as follow:
o Tuesday, Dec. 5 — 80 units collected
o Wednesday, Dec. 6 — 67 units collected
o Thursday, Dec. 7 — 37 units collected

In total, 184 units were collected. There were two first-time donors.
A special thank you to all the volunteers who included: all volunteers working in the canteen and greeter area of blood drive; Kate Hawkins for lining up the volunteers; and as always, the Holiday Inn/Green Mill Restaurant for the fine facilities and great staff.

The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. For more information on volunteering at the blood drive, please call Cathy Stapel at (507) 381-2066 or e-mail your interest to: Catherine.Stapel@redcross.org
