THE MARTIN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON TUESDAY HEARD PRESENTATIONS FROM A COUPLE OF ORGANIZATIONS SEEKING COUNTY CONTRIBUTIONS FOR PROJECTS. STEVE FOSNESS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE MARTIN COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL ADDRESSED THE COMMISSIONERS WITH A REQUEST FOR SOME FINANCIAL HELP. FOSNESS SAID THE GROUP IS AT ABOUT 25 PERCENT OF ITS GOAL OF 500,000 DOLLARS. FOSNESS SAID THAT THE GROUP IS SUPPORTIVE OF ALL OTHER VETERAN MEMORIALS IN THE COUNTY INCLUDING TRIMONT, TO WHICH THEY DONATED MONEY FOR GRAVEL ON THAT PROJECT, SOMETHING THE COUNTY BOARD COULD NOT DO DUE TO STATE RESTRICTIONS. FOSNESS SAID THE REQUEST IS FOR A ONE TIME DONATION.

COMMISSIONERS ALSO HEARD FROM SONJA FORTUNE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE RED ROCK CENTER FOR THE ARTS, WHOSE PREVIOUS CONTRIBUTION OF 4,050 DOLLARS WAS ELIMINATED FROM THE COUNTY'S PRELIMINARY BUDGET FOR NEXT YEAR. ALSO MAKING A PRESENTATION WAS JERRY MILLER FROM THE MARTIN COUNTY PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION HOPING THE COUNTY WOULD RECONSIDER. THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER BOTH THE REQUESTS GOING FORWARD.
