THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL TOOK ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO CONDUCT BUSINESS AT MONDAY'S MEETING. IN THAT TIME THE COUNCIL CANVASSED THE VOTES FROM LAST WEEKS CITY ELECTION. THE TALLY SHOWED THAT DEBBIE FOSTER WAS ELECTED MAYOR, TOM HAWKINS COUNCIL MEMBER AT LARGE, RUTH CYPHERS COUNCIL MEMBER 2ND WARD AND WAYNE HASEK AS COUNCIL PERSON 4TH WARD. THEY ALL TAKE THE OATH OF OFFICE IN JANUARY. THE BALLOT QUESTION ON A 1/2 CENT LOCAL OPTION CITY SALES TAX WAS APPROVED.

IN OTHER BUSINESS THE COUNCIL APPROVED A PARADE PERMIT FOR THIS FRIDAY'S GLOWS PARADE, A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR BRYAN AND MARYBETH SWEET ON SYLVAN DRIVE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A BOATHOUSE STRUCTURE IN THE SHORELAND OVERLAY DISTRICT.

MAYOR BOB WALLACE MADE PROCLAMATIONS FOR EARLY RISER KIWANIS DAY ON NOV. 28 AND FOR THIS WEEK'S AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK OBSERVANCE.
