THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD TUESDAY WELCOMED A NEW MEMBER-DEL ELLIS WHO WAS ELECTED TO THE BOARD AT A SPECIAL ELECTION ON AUGUST 9TH.

THE BOARD APPROVED A RESOLUTION THAT WILL PUT AN OPERATING LEVY REFERENDUM RENEWAL UP FOR A VOTE DURING THE GENERAL ELECTION COMING UP ON NOV. 8TH. SUPT. JOE BROWN SAYS THE VOTE IS TO EXTEND THE CURRENT LEARNING LEVY FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS AND WILL NOT MEAN AN INCREASE IN TAXES.

MR. BROWN SAYS BY RENEWING THE LEARNING LEVY DURING THE 2016 GENERAL ELECTION THE SCHOOL DISTRICT DOES NOT NEED TO PAY FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION NEXT YEAR WHEN THE CURRENT LEVY IS SET TO EXPIRE SAVING SCHOOL DISTRICT TAX DOLLARS. HE SAYS THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THE LOWEST OPERATING LEVY AMOUNT AMONG MARTIN COUNTY SCHOOLS.

THE SCHOOL BOARD ALSO GAVE SUPT. BROWN A SUPERINDENT'S EVEALUTATION TERMED AS OUTSTANDING BY BOARD MEMBER DAN BROOKENS WHO DELIVERED THE EVALUATION RESULTS AT THE BOARD MEETING.

JOE BROWN TURNED THE TABLE AND COMPLIMENTED THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD.

THE SCHOOL BOARD SET THE DATE FOR THE TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING FOR AFTER THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING ON DEC. 13,2016 AT 6 PM.
