THE FAIRMONT PLANNING COMMISION HELD THREE PUBLIC HEARINGS AT TUESDAY NIGHT'S MEETING. THE COMMISSION APPROVED AMENDING THE CITY CODE TO ADD A CONDITIONAL USE FOR ANY USE PERMITTED IN A B-3 GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH I-1 LIGHT INDUSTRIAL USES . THAT AMENDMENT WOULD PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FLEXIBILITY FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE CITY. THE PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL WILL BE SENT TO THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL FOR A PUBLIC HEARING AND THEIR CONSIDERATION.
THE COMMISSION ALSO GAVE THEIR APPROVAL TO A PROPOSED PRELIMINARY AND FINAL PLAT OF THE MAPLE POINT ADDITION. CURRENTLY THE PROPERTY AT 1307 ALBION VENUE AND 1300 S. PRAIRIE AVENUE ARE UNPLATTED PARCELS. THERE IS INTEREST IN SELLING A PORTION OF THE UNPLATTED LAND FROM 1307 ALBION TO SWEET FINANCIAL. IN ORDER FOR THE PROPERTY SPLIT TO TRANSPIRE IT MUST BE PLATTED ACCORDING TO CITY CODE. THE PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL SENDS A RECOMMENDATION ON THE CITY COUNCIL TO ACCEPT AND APPROVE THE PRELIMINARY AND FINAL PLAT OF MAPLE POINT ADDITION. AFTER FINAL APPROVAL SWEET FINANCIAL PLANS EXPANSION INTO THAT PROPERTY.
