The Agri-Business Committee of the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce and the Agriculture Future of America (AFA) offers graduating Seniors of Martin County High Schools that plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in agriculture or an area of study that services agriculture, an opportunity to apply for scholarships. We offer two $4,200 scholarships, which includes a registration for the fall AFA Leaders Conference. Students can apply at http://fairmontchamber.org/apply-for-scholarships/

The following businesses have sponsored scholarships in 2017: Compeer Financial, Bank Midwest, Cargill Inc., Dutch Creek Farms, Fairmont Vet Clinic/Preferred Capital Management, Kahler Automation, Martin County Corn and Soybean Growers, Martin County Pork Producers, Profinium Financial, Valero, CFS, and the Agri-Business Committee of the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce.

We feel that agriculture is important to the future and economic stability of our region. We hope that you will be willing to participate in supporting our youth as they pursue a career in the field of Agriculture.

We wanted to get an idea about how you are helping the youth of our area, so we asked AFA for a snapshot of how we rank with other programs and whether the students use services after their first Leadership Conference. Here’s how your company is making a difference:

In 2016, two students were on the AFA student advisory team (elite group of 10 students that helps plan our annual Conference).

All Community Applicants (programs in 8 states):

· 2015 & 2016 -Martin County, MN had more applications than any other one county based scholarship program that AFA partners with

· 2017 – Martin County, MN had the 3rd most applicants out of all county based scholarship programs

Applicants In Minnesota:

· 2015 & 2016 - Martin County had double the amount of applicants than any other county based program in the state of Minnesota.

· 2017 - Martin County still had the most applicants out of any of other county based program in the state of Minnesota.

43% of past Martin County scholars continued their participation with AFA after the initial scholarship was received. This is high compared to other communities.
