FAIRMONT MAYOR DEB FOSTER HAD PROCLAIMED TODAY MONDAY OCTOBER 30 AT EDWIN (EDDIE) MURPHY DAY IN FAIRMONT AS EDDIE WAS TO RECEIVE THE BOOK OF GOLDEN DEEDS AWARD TONIGHT FROM THE FAIRMONT EXCHANGE CLUB.
SADLY, EDDIE PASSED AWAY SUNDAY AT HIS HOME IN RURAL FAIRMONT AT THE AGE OF 79.
EDDIE HAD BEEN PRESIDENT OF THE MARTIN COUNTY BOARD FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS AND HAD BEEN A MEMBER OF THE ORGANIZATION SINCE 1981.
HERE IS THE MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Fairmont Exchange Club, a community service organization, annually
honors an individual who has given imselfishly in community service and displays the true spirit of
WHEREAS, the Exchange Club in honoring one individual actually is honoring all
WHEREAS) the Exchange Club wants to honor the work and dedication of volunteers and
the vital resource volunteerism is to our community, and the recipient so honored in this
proclamation has been and is an ideal role model for volunteers, and;
WHEREAS, we have designated the 30th day of October, 2017, to honor Edwin (Eddie)
Murphy who has given so much love and happiness to so many people and is a symbol of patience,
cheerfulness, generosity, humility, and Christian love, and;
WHEREAS^ we, the Exchange Club ofFairmont and the Martin County community, in
honoring Edwin (Eddie) Murphy on October 30, 2017, are letting the present and future
generations know that the world's future depends on the commitment of each individual to help
and support one another.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Deborah J. Foster, Mayor of the City ofFairmont, do hereby
proclaim the day of October 30, 2017, as

day in the City ofFairmont, County of Martin, and I call on all citizens of the City ofFairmont to
honor all volunteers.
THE FAIRMONT EXCHANGE CLUB WILL STILL HAVE THE BOOK OF GOLDEN DEEDS PROGRAM TONIGHT AT 5:30 PM AT THE FAIRMONT HOLIDAY INN.
