THE FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS AT MONDAY'S FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL MEETING WAS A DISCUSSION ON BLOCKING OFF WOODLAND AVENUE TO THRU TRAFFIC FOR THREE HOURS ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT. MARILYN FORSTROM, CONCERNED CITIZEN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, MADE THE REQUEST OF CITY COUNCIL FOR SAFETY SAKE FOR THE 1,000 TO 1,500 TRICK OR TREATERS WHO NORMALLY SHOW UP.

AFTER SOME DISCUSSION AND INPUT FROM FAIRMONT POLICE CHIEF MICHAEL HUNTER WHO SAID HE, THE CITY POLICE FORCE AND SOME OTHER HELP COULD MAKE PLAN THE TO WORK TO LIMIT AND DIRECT TRAFFIC FOR THE EVENT. THE COUNCIL DIRECTED CHIEF HUNTER TO HANDLE IT FROM 4:30 - 7:30 ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT.

CHIEF HUNTER WAS THE SECOND ORDER OF BUSINESS MONDAY NIGHT. HE PRESENTED TO THE COUNCIL A DRAFT BODY WORN CAMERA POLICY TO THE COUNCIL. HE ALSO ASKED IF THE COUNCIL COULD SET ASIDE SOME TIME AT THE COUNCIL'S NOVEMBER 13 MEETING FOR MORE CITIZEN INPUT AFTER THEY HAD A CHANCE TO VIEW SURVEY RESULTS AND THE POLICY DRAFT.

CHIEF HUNTER SAID THE POLICY WAS PATTERNED AFTER THE ONE ESTABLISHED BY THE LEAGUE OF MINNESOTA CITIES.

MAYOR DEB FOSTER READ A COUPLE OF PROCLAMATIONS-ONE FOR HONORING EDDIE MURPHY, WHO WILL BE RECOGNIZED BY THE FAIRMONT EXCHANGE CLUB WITH THEIR BOOK OF GOLDEN DEEDS AWARD NEXT MONDAY AND A PROCLAMATION ABOUT COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RECREATION DAY COMING UP ON NOVEMBER 9TH.
