THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHER ROAD TRIP STOPPED IN FAIRMONT ON TUESDAY.

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR MARK COYLE HAS BEEN ON THE JOB ABOUT A YEAR KNOW AND TOUTED SUCCESS AT THE "U" BOTH ATHLETICALLY AND SCHOLASTICALLY. TOP TEN DIRECTOR'S CUP OF ALL PROGRAMS IN THE NATION FOR ATHLETIC SUCCESS AND TOP PUBLIC SCHOOL IN THE NATION FOR STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS

IT BEEN A WHIRLWIND SINCE NEW YEARS DAY FOR NEW FOOTBALL COACH P.J. FLECK WHO LED HIS UNBEATEN WESTERN MICHIGAN TEAM TO THE COTTON BOWL GAME AGAINST THE WISCONSIN BADGERS AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER BECAME THE GOPHERS NEW FOOTBALL COACH. HE DESCRIBES THE PAST FEW MONTHS AS LIKE DRINKING FROM A FIRE HOSE WITH UPS AND DOWNS ALONG THE WAY BUT ENJOYED THE CHANCE TO CONNECT WITH COMMUNITIES IN OUTSTATE MINNESOTA.

COACH FLECK SAID THERE IS SOME REBUILDING TO BE DONE NEAR TERM BUT THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR GOPHER FOOTBALL .

P.J. FLECK STIRRED THE CROWD ESTIMATED AT AROUND 300 FOR THE ROAD TRIP STOP TUESDAY WITH HIS ENERGETIC AND PASSIONATE PEP TALK AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM.

GOPHER MENS BASKETBALL COACH RICHARD PITINO WAS NOT TOTALLY SURPRISED BY HIS TEAM'S RECORD TURNAROUND THIS PAST SEASON.

COACH PITINO WAS POSITIVE IN HIS ASSESSMENT OF THE BIG TEN RACE THIS YEAR AND HIS HOPES THE TEAM CAN RISE TO THE TOP OF THE CONFRENCE.

MARK COYLE WHO HAD BEEN AT THE UNIVERSITY IN ANOTHER CAPACITY EARLIER WAS GLAD TO RETURN TO MINNESOTA WHEN THE POSITION BECAME OPEN.

THE GOPHER ROAD TRIP ENTOURAGE HAD BEEN IN OWATONNA TUESDAY MORNING AND WERE ON THEIR WAY TO NEW ULM WHEN THE STOP IN FAIRMONT WAS COMPLETED YESTERDAY.
