The Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce is working to build the necessary infrastructure and support to create a shift in local spending that will help to strengthen our communities and our regional economy. In celebration of National Small Business Week (April 30 – May 6), the Chamber is deploying two initiatives aimed at helping area businesses succeed.

The first is a workshop to help business owners grow their online presence. We have teamed up with Google to present “Grow Your Business Online,” a hands-on workshop to help businesses of all sizes to remain competitive by increasing their visibility on the web. The workshop will help to familiarize attendees with the resources available to them for improving their search engine rankings and determine if their website is providing their users with the seamless and intuitive experience necessary to drive traffic and deliver results. The one-hour workshop will take place on Tuesday, May 2 at the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus, Room 012, beginning at 10:30 AM. Businesses can find the online registration link on the Chamber’s website at www.fairmontchamber.org.

The second initiative will be an upgrade to our Chamber Gift Certificate program. The Chamber Gift Certificates or “Chamber Bucks” have long been in use throughout our community, encouraging recipients to recirculate their dollars in our local establishments and keep them working toward building our local economy. Chamber Bucks will continue to be redeemable for face value at participating Martin County businesses as they have in the past, but will now be easier and more convenient for businesses to process. Businesses will be able to deposit the certificates directly through their bank rather than being required to exchange them at our local chamber office.

Please direct any questions to Margaret Dillard, President of the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce at 507-235-5547.
