THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD MET TUESDAY NIGHT. THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE ROSTER OF SPRING SPORTS COACHES AND ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF VERN OSBORN,EVENING CUSTODIAN AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND THEN APPROVED HIRING HIS REPLACEMENT LYNN ROSA WHO HAS BEEN WORKING A FOUR MONTH WINTER CUSTODIAN POSITION IN THE DISTRICT SINCE DECEMBER. A MEDICAL LEAVE AND AN ADOPTION LEAVE WERE REQUESTED AND APPROVED BY THE BOARD.

SUPT JOE BROWN IN HIS REPORT SAID THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAD GAINED 10 STUDENTS-8 IN THE ELEMENTARY AND 2 IN THE HIGH SCHOOL- SINCE THE LAST MEETING TWO WEEKS AGO. HE ALSO TALKED ABOUT STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETINGS THAT ARE TAKING PLACE IN THE DISTRICT APRIL THROUGH JUNE THIS YEAR AND IS LOOKING FOR ANYBODY WHO WOULD WANT TO BE A PART OF THAT PROCESS TO LET THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICE KNOW.

SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS RUFUS RODRIGUEZ AND NICOLE GREEN AND SUPERINTENDENT BROWN TALKED ABOUT BEING ENLIGHTENED BY 6TH GRADE STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHILE EATING BREAKFAST WITH SOME OF THEM EARLIER THIS MONTH.

SUPT. BROWN ALSO MENTIONED A TRIP TO CHANHASSEN FOR TOURS OF THE HIGH SCHOOL AND AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THERE BY HIM AND 8 MEMBERS FROM SCHOOL ADMINSTRATION AND STAFF. THE TRIP WAS MADE TO TRY TO LOOK AT SOME NEW IDEAS TO TRY TO MAKE THE DISTRICT BETTER EQUIPPED TO PREPARE STUDENTS TO BE COLLEGE AND CAREER READY

THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD ACCEPTED THE RETIREMENTS CUNDY HUSET WHO HAS BEEN EMPLOYED WITH THE DISTRICT SINCE 1988 AND CHERYL KIDD WHO HAS BEEN EMPLOYED HERE SINCE 1997. BOTH RETIREMENTS EFFECTIVE AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. ALL SCHOOL STAFF RETIRING THIS YEAR WILL BE RECOGNIZED AT A RETIREMENT TEA ON FRIDAY APRIL 21 FROM 3:30 TO 5 PM AT THE WILLIAM BUDD ROOM AT THE FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
