There was an open house Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont with root beer floats and cookies provided, along with a short program to celebrate Lincoln Becker's last treatment and and medications in his 2 and 1/2 year battle with cancer.

Lincoln, the son of Lynn and Julie Becker, was just 9 years old at the time he was diagnosed with Stage 4 T lymphoblastic lymphoma in October 2014. The cancer has an 80 to 85 percent successful treatment rate, and treatment usually lasts about 2 1/2 years. The event also offered those in attendance photos and videos of Lincoln’s 2 1/2-year journey.

Donations were accepted, with all proceeds going to benefit the #lincolnstrong Relay for Life team.

Lincoln himself said he is glad not to be taking pills every morning, and his parents noted they are happy to see him full of energy, and not having to miss school. Lincoln said the best thing for him is going to be able to play his sports without getting tired.

The Beckers note they are extremely thankful to everyone for their support, from family and friends, to community members as a whole. The family also wanted to give to organizations that helped them through Lincoln's treatment and recovery and are giving more than 5,000 dollars each to Make A Wish Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House and the Cancer Kids Fund at Children's Hospital.
