THE FAIRMONT PARK BOARD MET EARLIER THIS WEEK. THE BOARD WAS UPDATED BY CITY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TROY NEMMERS WHO INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE SYLVANIA SHELTER REPAIRS AND UPGRADES CONTINUE AND AN UPCOMING PARK BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE SHELTER.

SOLAR LIGHTS THAT WERE DONATED HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AT THE DOG PARK. A COMMITTEE HAS FORMED TO BEGIN PLANNING AND FUNDRAISING FOR AN INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND AT ONE OF THE CITY PARKS AND STAFF IS WORKING WITH CONNER MADSEN ON AN EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT TO INSTALL A CANOE/KAYAK LAUNCH ON THE SOUTH END OF AMBER LAKE NEAR THE FISHING PIER.

NEMMERS SAID THAT CITY STAFF WILL BE MEETING WITH THE 1590 TRAILS COMMITTEE TO PRIORITIZE POTENTIAL TRAIL PROJECTS AND IDENTIFY POTENTIAL FUTURE PROJECTS. HE MENTIONED THAT THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HOLDING A WORK SESSION THIS MONDAY PRIOR TO THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING TO DISCUSS TRAIL CONNECTIONS IN CEDAR PARK, OTHER POSSIBLE TRAIL CONNECTIONS AND FUNDING OPTIONS.

TROY MENTIONED THAT A 3,000 DOLLAR DONATION WAS MADE TO LINCOLN PARK IN MEMORY OF PEG PERSINGER AND OTHER NEIGHBORS OF LINCOLN PARK. THE CONSERVATION CLUB DONATED THREE PURPLE MARTIN HOUSES TO CITY PARKS. THE CITY OF LAKES GARDEN CLUB DONATED TWO TREES TO STEVE PIERCE PARK AND THERE IS NOW 250 DOLLARS IN A FUND SET UP TO PLANT MORE TREES IN STEVE PIERCE MEMORIAL PARK. PIERCE PARK WILL BE THE SITE OF THIS YEARS FAIRMONT TREE CITY U S A ARBOR DAY ANNUAL TREE PLANTING CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 28TH.
