THE FAIRMONT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AMBASSADORS HAD TWO RIBBON CUTTINGS IN FAIRMONT ON WEDNESDAY. THE FIRST WAS THE NEW FAIRMONT BUTCHER BLOCK ON WINNEBAGO AVENUE, AND THEN THE CHAMBER'S PM EXCHANGE WAS AT THE MAYOR CLINIC-HEALTH SYSTEM IN FAIRMONT. TOURS WERE GIVEN OF THE NEWLY RENOVATED PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION SPACE AND A BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK AT THE DEPARTMENT'S NEW ANTI-GRAVITY TREADMILL.

THE VISIT TO MAYO WAS ALSO AN OPPORTUNITY TO MEET NEW ADMINISTRATOR AMY LONG WHO HAS BEEN ON THE JOB ABOUT A MONTH NOW.

AMY LONG HAS EXPERIENCE IN ADMINISTRATION MOST RECENTLY AT THE ST. JAMES HOSPITAL FOR 6 MONTHS, PRIOR TO THAT - 2 YEARS FOR THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AT THE ST. PETER STATE HOSPITAL AND STARTED OUT IN IOWA AT THE WAVERLY HEALTH CENTER FOR 6 YEARS.

THE FAIRMONT BUTCHER BLOCK OPENED ON WEDNESDAY ON WINNEBAGO AVENUE IN THE FORMER LOCATION OF OLSON LOCKER. JEFF SCHMIDT, OWNER AND PROPRIETOR, IS FROM OKABENA. SCHMIDT TALKED ABOUT DRIVING BY AND SEEING THE BUILDING AND DECIDING TO OPEN A BUSINESS HERE.

JEFF SCHMIDT SAID RIGHT NOW HOURS AT THE NEW FAIRMONT BUTCHER BLOCK ARE 7:30 AM TO 7 PM WEEKDAYS AND 8 - 4 ON SATURDAY.
