THE MARTIN COUNTY BOARD BEGAN THEIR FIRST MEETING OF THE NEW YEAR WITH THE OATH OF OFFICE TO THOSE NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS: COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ELLIOT BELGARD,STEVE FLOHRS AND KATHY SMITH; SOIL AND WATER DISTRICT SUPERVISORS JUDY BECKMAN AND LARRY COWING AND COUNTY ASSESSOR DAN WHITMAN.

THE COMMISSIONERS SELECTED CHAIR AN VICE CHAIR FOR THE NEW YEAR WITH DAN SCHMIDTKE CHOSEN AS BOARD CHAIR AND TOM MAHONEY AS VICE CHAIR ON UNANIMOUS VOTES.

THE BOARD APPROVED A REVISED RESIGNATION DATE FOR SHERIFF'S DEPUTY JAKE RUPPERT FROM JAN. 15 TO JAN 7 THIS YEAR. COMMISSIONERS ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR MIKE MILLER AND APPROVED AND AUTHORIZED RECRUITMENT TO FILL THE COURTHOUSE MANTENANCE SUPERIVISOR POSITION. THE BOARD THEN APPROVED THE TEMPORARY CLASSIFICATION OF DOUG BORCHARDT FROM BUIDING MAONETNENCE TECHNICIAN TO MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR EFECTIVE JAN. 8 THIS YEAR. MELVIN SUKALSKI WAS HIRED ON A TEMPORARY BASIS FOR BUILDING MAINTENANCE.

COMMISSIONERS APPROVED A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING OF SERVICES AGREEMENT CONFIRMING AUDIT SERVICES BY THE STATE OF MINNESOTA OFFICE OF THE STATE AUDITOR FOR THE YEAR 2016.
