Kim Kreiss rocks your weekends on Classic KFMC and AM 1370, KSUM
Kim FAQ's:
Where are you from? I was born and raised in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School...moved back in '09 with my husband (KFMC afternoon guy and KSUM evening guy Joseph Kreiss "JK").
Why did you move back? Wanted to spend more time with my family; missed Fairmont's lakes and midwest corn (believe me, the corn in the west isn't the same)!!
How long have you been in radio and how did you get into it? I've been in radio for over 25 years...went to college to be a paralegal and it wasn't fun...found radio...helped run the college radio station...and the rest is history.
What stations have you worked at over the years? I've worked at stations in Winona, MN, Faribault, MN, LaCrosse, WI, Madison, WI, Sonora, CA, Aberdeen, WA, Salida, CO and now Fairmont. I grew up listening to KFMC and KSUM so it's a full circle life thing and I'm lovin' it!
What are your favorite bands/artists? The reason I got into radio is because of my love of music...I have sooo many favorites!
I'd have to say my favorite classic rock artists/groups are Elton John, John Mellencamp, Boston, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Steve Miller Band, Rush, Steely Dan, REO Speedwagon, Kiss and that's just to name a few!
I also like country music....Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Lady Antebellum, Montgomery Gentry, Zac Brown Band...again, just to name a few!
One of my favorite things is to go to concerts when I can. I collect my ticket stubs too...some artists I've seen more than once because I love their shows so much. Thanks to radio, I've been fortunate to meet several artists over the years, too, which is always fun as a music fan.
I love the learning the backstory of songs and artists so I'm always digging into that information. Keep listening for more trivial information about your favorite songs and artists on Classic KFMC and KSUM!
If stranded on a beach and could only have the Stones or the Beatles collection, which would I choose? As much as I respect and appreciate the role the Beatles have played in our musical history, I'd have to pick the Stones. Why? "It's Only Rock N Roll (But I like it)!"
What sports do you like? I'll always be a Vikings fan, Twins fan, Badger fan (a result of living in WI for over 10 years) but my true sports love is Nascar and my fave driver is #14 Tony Stewart, although I'm happy if anyone but Jimmy Johnson or Jeff Gordon wins.
Do you have kids? Nope...just "our girl" Gracie-our recently adopted yellow lab from the Martin County Humane Society.
Favorite Foods? I'll try almost everything once. My husband is a trained culinary chef, so he's introduced me to a lot of different foods and gotten me out of the habit of hot dishes with cream of mushroom soup-he actually has me eating vegetables! I love fresh sushi, pasta, pizza and cookies!!!
Beverage of choice? Coffee in the morning....and Diet Coke in the afternoon...
Favorite TV shows? I'm a reality TV junkie....Survivor, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Top Chef but also love my dramas...Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters. Oh! And decorating shows and real estate shows on HGTV.
Favorite Movies? Don't watch a lot of them anymore...no time! But if I do have time, I need a good ol' chick flick with a happy ending please.
What do you do for fun? Play Scrabble with my mom on Facebook, play Aggravation, Rummy and Uno with Joseph, play catch with Gracie, read lots of books, make jewelry, scrapbook, knit, shop for antiques, go on road trips with Joseph.
